Technology, art. Plan to go to college

- Try to make a best choice on her future major and career.

- Take further action to select a college program and plan her future career.

- The career selection is limited by her own living experience and knowlege.

- It’s hard to get advices and qualitative information about the major, career, and the college programs that she is interested in.

Research

90%

9 out of 10 people aged between 21 and 65 say they regret rushing their career choices, with many picking a university course at random because they simply don't know what they want to do and feel pushed to make a decision because they are 'running out of time'.

69%

Over half of the 3,000 students that responded to a GTI Media survey said their parents tried to exert influence over their choice of career or course, with 69% saying their parents tried to influence their choice of university.

20%

20% of students currently enrolled at university say they would have chosen a different course if given the chance. The same study found that 18% of the 1,805 respondents cite a lack of initial research as the main cause of their disappointment.

Conclusion

     “

The results here and in other studies point to lack of knowledge rather than lack of interest as the leading cause of enrollment vacancies in allied health curricula.

Conclusion

The AR Career Detector mobile app helps students explore more career opportunities and get useful information to make career choices.

It also provides a way for students to get access to the college programs they are interested in, and for the schools to advertise their programs with future students.

Future Opportunities

In this project, I mainly focused on solving the problem based on the external factors that influence people’s career choices.

To expand this project, I’d like to explore how to match people with the appropriate careers based on internal factors (people’s personality, interests, experience).
