Problems Recap:

1. Design is changing users’ habits. Users are only able to process image and video information, they are getting used to process image/video information.

2. People lack the patience to read text that is more than one line these days due to image-heavy APPs.

3. People are losing their imagination as image/video information already did the job for them.

4. People are heavily distracted and having a hard time concentrating.

Research:

1. 51% of adults in the UK read at least one book in the previous year. Not only is this a decrease from 56% in the prior year, but it also means half of the adults in the UK didn’t read a single book in a full 12 months.

2. between 2003 and 2016, the amount of time that the average American devoted to reading for personal interest on a daily basis dropped from 0.36 hours to 0.29 hours.

3. only 28% of Americans read 11 or more books in a year, and 28% proudly admit to not reading even once.
