Additives Abyss

A Motion Graphic to Educate Users About Food Additives in Taiwan.

In recent years, Taiwan has repeatedly encountered food safety problems because we have depended on prepared or processed foods containing additives excessively on account of convenience, low prices, saving time, and self-benefits.

Furthermore, people in Taiwan are not used to reading the product label before buying something. This is because detailed information is not available for people to understand food additives. Therefore, they are unaware of the potential risks of additives.

A motion graphic piece to introduce different categories of additives to help people recognize and educate them not to judge food just by its appearance and to make wise and healthy choices.

THE SITUATION

image_5

Food safety is one of the reasons that result in the prevalence rate and the incidence rate of Hemodialysis population in the world currently.

Not only are people in Taiwan not willing to trust the government and the safety of food anymore, but these immoral events also disclose that food companies pursue profits at any cost.

THE APPROACH

Through this project, people will also gain knowledge of the appearance or function of the food with additives. Next time, when they are purchasing food, they can recognize healthy food and avoid food additives.

IDEATION

The main idea is to combine food additives and daily necessities such as sushi with food coloring, mushrooms with bleach, and bread with a leavening agent. That may seem regular and normal at first glimpse for the viewers, but when they see details, they will find out that the motion graphic will express the fact that people continue to be addicted to food additives, and are unable to extricate themselves from them.
